Setting Up Life in Marfa

A resource for monthly guests and new residents.

Welcome to the High Plateau. Marfa is a beautiful, singular place, but it operates on its own time and logic. A few essentials to help your first 48 hours....

1. Groceries

  • The Get Go: Best for everyday essentials and a surprisingly good wine selection.

  • Lowe´s: Your go-to for standard everything and the staples.

  • Pro Tip (The Alpine Run): Most residents do a "big shop" once every two weeks in Alpine (25 minutes away) at Porter’s or the Alpine Farmers Market. If you need specialty organic items, hit The Herb Rabbit in Alpine.

2. Mail & Deliveries

Marfa does not have home mail delivery. That´s right.

  • USPS: All residents use PO Boxes. If you are staying with us for a month, ask us about the best way to receive small packages.

  • UPS/FedEx: These do deliver to physical addresses. Ensure your "Shipping Address" is clearly marked on your orders.

3. Remote Work & Connectivity

If you’re here to work, you’re in good hands at our property [link to your amenities section], but if you need a change of scenery:

  • Marfa Public Library: A nice place to work with reliable Wi-Fi and a great courtyard.

  • Frama: High-quality coffee and plenty of outlets. It’s the unofficial "office" for many local freelancers.

  • The Sentinel: A favorite place to work, indoors and out.

4. Health & Wellness

  • Presidio County Medical Clinic: For basic healthcare needs right in town.

  • Big Bend Regional Medical Center: Located in Alpine for more urgent or specialized care.

  • Marfa Yoga/Gym: Check the community board at the Get Go for current class schedules.

5. Staying In the Loop

To know what’s actually happening (gallery openings, food trucks, town hall meetings), check these three sources:

  • MarfaList: The local digital bulletin board.

  • Marfa Public Radio (KRTS 93.5): Tune in. It is the heartbeat of the community.

  • The Big Bend Sentinel: Pick up the physical newspaper on Thursdays.
